High heels—also just known as heels, although this is a confusing use of the word as there are also flat heels—are a type of shoe that have an elongated, vertical column beneath the heel of the foot, which forces the heel of the wearer several inches into the air, as if standing on tiptoes. This makes the wearer both appear taller and often improves the appearance of the wearer's legs.
High heels are primarily designed to increase the sexual attraction of a female, generally when regarded by a male. High heels come in many different colors, strap designs, points and — most importantly — height. It is commonly believed that the most attractive heels are approximately 5 to 6 inches (13 to 15 cm). However a style of partially thin and pointy heels call Stiletto (after the weapon) typical vary from 1 to 10 inches (2.5 to 25 cm) with those smaller than 2.0 inches (5 cm) are often called kitten heels.
High heels can make it hard or impossible to run or to walk on uneven ground, and cause an unsteady gait. However the gait the shoe encourages involves pronounced hip movement calling attention to there wearer's buttocks. They can also cause foot deformities and skeleton damage to the leg after a prolonged period of time.
High heels in BDSMEdit
In spanking and BDSM scenarios, high heels are often added to any uniform, costume, or set of fetish clothing. This includes both tops and bottoms alike: high heels are a common part of the costume of a female dominant, but are also often worn by a female submissive. They are often found in vintage BDSM and spanking art, including BDSM and spanking photos from the 1920s to the 1950s, and are popular to the present day, especially in the BDSM scene. The art of Eric Stanton, Gene Bilbrew and John Willie demonstrates the "high heels fetish".
