Appropriateness of picture

The top picture, "The governess", seems to me not ideal. The method shown is not how caning was done, and actually is not at all an effective way of doing it. A much more typical caning scene would show an older boy bending over, with a schoolmaster holding the cane standing behind and to one side. -- Pineapple (talk) 08:11, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Typical for British style school canings (including the Commonwealth), yes. School canings in other cultures may differ (e.g. Germany seems to have favored bent-over-object positions in school cp). Rogue added a drawing by Dave Ell of a British style classroom caning. If you know a better example, feel free to add or replace it. --Spankart (talk) 18:48, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
