We have a problem here. I can no longer delete such broken pages. If I try to delete this page, I now get an error message Internal error / [c957fd38b174acce4700e2e5] 2023-05-12 08:32:29: Fatal exception of type "LogicException"). And if I try to create the broken page newly, I get an Edit conflict that can not be resolved. The problem seems similar to this problem report. Unfortunately it looks like only a skilled and devoted MediaWiki admin could fix it. And we don't have one. :( --Spankart (talk) 08:45, 12 May 2023 (UTC)

MediaWiki has a number of maintenance scripts to fix such problems. But - ssh access is needed. :-(

I got in touch with our host, who responded thankfully quickly. He is looking into fixing all broken pages and has asked me for a list. Manually opening and sighting 4300+ pages would be a thankless task. So I hope another solution will be found. --Spankart (talk) 14:51, 15 May 2023 (UTC)

Abuse filter blocked usersEdit

Notes to self about abuse filter blocked users.

  • Because of massive spambot attacks, I installed an abuse filter on 24 August 2022, based on these examples, see Special:AbuseFilter.
  • This abuse filter automatically blocks any user, without a warning, who tries to create a new page or add a new link, except for logged-in users who have the "autoconfirmed" status.
  • Special:AbuseLog lists all blocked users.
  • Occasionally, the filter blocks a harmless user. These will then no longer be able to edit any wiki page except their own talk page -- and they can only edit that if it already existed before, but they can't create it newly.
  • If they try to use Special:EmailUser/Spankart, the wiki will alert me that a message was sent, although these messages never seem to reach me in my e-mail inbox.
  • I can unblock a user via Special:Unblock and I can use Special:UserRights to move them into the "bots" group. It is not possible to move them into an "autoconfirmed" group.
  • The abuse filter should leave users in the "bots" group alone, but I'm not really sure how or if that really works. Perhaps "autoconfirmed" status does not exist at all in this wiki, and perhaps I need to tweak that part of the abuse filter to really exclude users in the "bots" group. But the two users I've unblocked so far, User:AuthorJJRose and User:Pteromys, have not been blocked again since.

Since 24 April 2023, the spambot attacks on our wiki seem to be completely over. I don't know the reason, but most likely our host upgraded MediaWiki and/or installed/activated some antispam measure. So today, I deactivated the abuse filter because it can take undesired actions (false positives) and is no longer needed. --Spankart (talk) 16:20, 24 May 2023 (UTC)

Create UserEdit

I'm sorry this happened again to you. We are still new to this abuse filter thing and how it works in detail. Problems with the site (again)Edit

For the past 3 or 4 days have had constant trouble navigating the site. Pages take forever to load and often fail during that process. Saving changes sometimes fail as well (I get a "technical difficulties -- cannot access database" error message). -- Jameslovebirch (talk) 19:48, 17 April 2023 (UTC)

Yes, I experienced the same thing in the past days (and including right now). It must be some kind of host issue, so we as the users can do nothing about it, I'm afraid. We had this sort of trouble before, and after several days it usually got better. --Spankart (talk) 06:47, 18 April 2023 (UTC)

Yeah, but it's no help; support contact to our host is a pain. I'm really unhappy about this, but at least they run our wiki (and 100+ other wikis) for free, relatively stable and completely ad-free since more than 10 years. --Spankart (talk) 14:21, 18 April 2023 (UTC)

GreetingsEdit

Hello there! I do apologise for not starting a new chat and editing this one here, as I am not planning on staying very long or making an account. I need to say that I have long been fan of this site, though. Anyway, I wanted to ask, would you have any idea what that movie/series (I think it's series) is called where a scene involves a blond, or dark blond mother spanking her pig-tailed, blond daughter, before hugging her? The scene takes place in the west in a house and it looks like it was filmed in the 70's or somewhere around there. I think the mother spanks her daughter because she said something rude about her father leaving her. I know that there is an entire article made on this Wiki that involves spankings in movies and series, but there are too many cowboy types, and I can't find this specific one I am talking about here. Would you have any clues about it?

Hello! My personal interest in film scenes is limited, so I can't immediately come up with a suggestion, sorry. Since you have already studied the pages Spanking in mainstream films and Spanking on television without finding it: I suggest to try spanking forums where you can reach a larger group of people who might know which series or movie could be the one you are looking for. Hello Spanktastic, nice to see you write here finally! All bad things come with their bright sides. :)
I don't know what happened to your first edit here. It is not in the page history, so it was not deleted. That means it was not saved. The wiki indeed does have its hiccups, though I usually get either an error message or a time-out when one of my edits is not saved.
How can you stay in contact with me? Here in this wiki is the main place. I check the wiki's most recent edits almost daily. The wiki is public though, so if you want to send me a private, personal message, or an image you don't want to or can't upload to the wiki according to our license/image policies, things are a bit more complicated. I have an e-mail address but I check it only very rarely, perhaps once a month, so it is really not good for regular exchange. I have recently joined kingsdungeons.com and you can PM me there. Otherwise, I still have a very old account with Skype but I'm not regularly using it. I might join Discord some day, I have been recommended to do so. Yes, the wiki has a domain name blacklist to reduce spam. If a URL in your edit matches any in MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist, the wiki will tell you that your edit can't be saved.
I got a message from Pixiv that said "Dear user, Thank you for using our service. We've suspended your account because you have violated pixiv's Terms of Use, Article 14." Quoted: "Article 14 - Prohibited Conduct. 11. Engaging in any of the following conduct in relation to the Posted Information data that constitutes obscenity, child pornography, or child abuse in violation of laws, regulations, or other criteria established by the Company (referred to as “Improper Data”)." No further details were given. My account at Pixiv, by the way, still exists, but in suspended state. Just remember to never begin any line in the wiki with a blank (space character). If you want to indent a line, begin it with a colon (:), like I am doing here in this line. The usual convention is to use this indention on any talk page (e.g. here) in order to show by the indention level what exact paragraph you are replying to. --Spankart (talk) 20:12, 9 July 2023 (UTC)

Yeah, the mobile view does not have any sidebar. And the ≡ menu is not customizable at all. MediaWiki's mobile view is inferior to the desktop view in a number of aspects. --Spankart (talk) 21:21, 10 July 2023 (UTC)

Okay, entering an img url does let the comment get deleted, yes without warning! I wanted to comment on the new bath spank image, but it requires a code... I'm really not used to this wiki world :(

This must be because for new users, a captcha is required whenever they enter an external link. And it seems this captcha does not display properly in mobile view. I highly recommend you to not use mobile view and use desktop view, especially when you edit in the wiki. Mobile view, I believe, is really mostly meant for just viewing and not editing. Your user page (User:Spanktastic) did not get edited. You can edit it yourself in any way you like. I do not edit other people's user pages because it's your personal space. If you want to, you can put a link on your user page to say that you are Little Dragon Kid.

Editing format problemsEdit

For the past few days, going into "edit" mode to make changes results in an ugly-looking, messed-up format page with overlapping text. If something was changed to "improve" the editing function, I would suggest changing it back to what it was before. -- Jameslovebirch (talk) 18:59, 3 September 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. Sorry for that trouble. I don't have the same problem here, I only get the usual other issues when editing (such as complete timeouts, or the error message "An error occurred while attempting to preview your changes. The server did not respond within the expected time."). What you describe sounds like it's possibly an issue with any of the CSS files. Perhaps a bad (corrupt or empty) CSS file was cached somewhere on the way from the host to your computer, or on your computer. You can try if any of the following helps:
  1. Reloading the page (depending on your browser it could be Ctrl+F5),
  2. Changing your skin in Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-rendering to any other skin, so it will use differrent CSS files,
  3. Since the issue is in editing mode, perhaps changing one or more of the settings in Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-editing could perhaps help too -- but I don't think it's very likely to help,
  4. Clearing your browser's cache,
  5. Also, just waiting some more days could help if it really is something with a bad cached file. --Spankart (talk) 09:44, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
